Africa Times: delivers unique, authoritative and independent reporting from the frontlines of crises to inspire and produce a more effective humanitarian response

Most of the stories you read on this site come from newspapers, news agencies and publications all over the African continent. We aggregate and distribute the reporting of more than 130 media organizations. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of reporting, analysis and commentary from as many as possible of the influential media in every country.

They include government and opposition-controlled papers, as well as the growing number of independent, professional news publications across the continent. In this way, we provide access to a full range of what Africans themselves are saying, thinking and publishing — a unique compilation of information that is valuable to policy makers, businesses, non-governmental organizations, scholars and journalists, as well as to the general public.

In addition to providing access to Africa’s media coverage, afrika Times also publishes original reporting by our editorial team of award-winning journalists. Those stories are labeled “allAfrica.com.” All other stories are labeled with the name of the originating source.

Below is a list of publishers who provide content through Afrika Times, including their contact information and, where applicable, a web site address. Afrikatimes neither edits nor assumes responsibility for stories provided by media organizations, which retain copyright of their materials

Nima Elbagir

Nima Elbagir is an award-winning senior international correspondent for CNN based in London. She joined CNN in 2011 as a Johannesburg-based correspondent before moving to the network’s Nairobi bureau and later London. Elbagir was named the 2020 Royal Television Society ‘Television Journalist of the Year’ and received the prestigious 2019 Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award in the Investigative category for her reporting on human rights abuses, with the jurors citing her “fearless reporting across Africa, from a modern day slave market in Libya, to child labor in Congo, and a smuggler’s network in Nigeria, documented rarely seen exploitation and corruption.”
